Starting in early April this year, several cases of swine flu were reported in Mexico and the illness has slowly but surely been making its way north and now east. A 2-year-old girl came into my office last week and before I even went into the exam room I knew she was sick. She was coughing nonstop, literally. In the five minutes or so between when she was brought into the room and the time I walked in, no more than 20 seconds had passed without a dry hacking cough. Poor girl.
